Goole 17 - 14 Pocklington
The Panthers led
for most of the game until the home side snatched the winner with two minutes
to go at Goole.
For much of the game it was a contest between the more incisive
Pocklington backs and the more robust Goole forwards, and the frequent punctuations
of the referee's whistle meant that they game seldom flowed and suited the home
side.
The Panthers went ahead early on when some good back play whipped the
ball along the line to Jack Holbrough who raced over for his brother Jo to convert.
They then let the home side back into it as a series of penalties took Goole to
the other end where some slack lineout play presented them with the equalizing
score.
The Panthers came back for fly half Jo Holbrough to go over and convert
for a lead that they held onto until the dying minutes. Injuries up front weakened
the Panthers forwards before they conceded a close range forward try to cut the
gap, and they were finally ground down as Goole stole it with another last gasp
pack rumble.
