Panthers 32 - 10 Scarborough
The Panthers
made it eight wins on the bounce with another impressive display at home to Scarborough
when they cut loose in the second half.
Though they got the boost of an early
score from lively scrum half Vik Hawksley, the Panthers made slow progress despite
Hawksley jinking through for a second time.
Scarborough hit back with a try
to be just one score adrift at the interval, but the Panthers were lifted on the
restart as replacement back row Tim Hughes charged over from 40 yards. They never
looked back thereafter and pulled away in convincing fashion with young threequarters
Jack Holbrough and Steve Shepherd sprinting over for tries and Joe Holbrough kicking
a penalty and two conversions.
The victory was all the more merited for the
fact that the Panthers had to pull out all the stops to put together a side due
to a spate of unavailabilities and injuries. Bringing in a raft of teenagers saved
the day, and the youngsters rose to the occasion to play their full part in an
excellent team display.
