York RI 48 - 5 Pocklington
The
Panthers travelled to York RI, looking to keep their 100% record intact and duly
came away with a convincing victory.
With a couple of new players maintaining
the side's good mix of youth and experience, the Panthers started strongly, claiming
first two tries inside ten minutes. York RI's only points of the day came when
several Panthers failed to claim a loose ball from a kick ahead, but the Panthers
quickly put the mistake to the back of their minds and were soon back on the attack
and adding to their score.
The forwards gave hooker Alex Brown a good platform
which he used to take several balls against the head, and every player, replacements
included, produced open and controlled rugby with several tries being complete
team efforts. It was also very good to see that past problems of poor last passes
was remedied as nearly all chances were turned into scores.
Four Panthers'
newcomers - Jack Holborough, Mike McTigue, Vic Hawksley and Ed Rowbottom - capped
successful debuts with a try, and other scorers were Rich Morley, Phil Drew and
Ed Rook.
The Panthers face Bridlington this coming weekend, and expect their
toughest test of the season to date.
