Pocklington 22 - 8 Hessle

The Panthers recorded a third successive win with a four-try success at home to Hessle.

The Panthers set off like a train, charging at the opposition with some high-speed interpassing. Prop Dave Wright displayed his full range of handling skills before the Panthers produced two quick-fire tries, good approach play ending with powerful finishes from centre Dan Wilson and lock Matt Atkinson.

But the Panthers then took their foot off the pedal and let Hessle back into contention. They kicked away possession and conceded needless penalties to put themselves under pressure. And though the Panthers responded with some solid defence, Hessle countered with a try and a penalty to make it 10-8 at the interval.

The Panthers made a flurry of second half changes, with the introduction of back row Tim Hughes giving then addition go forward. And when the pack drove from a lineout Hughes blasted over from close range.

The Panthers attacked to the end, and after they had been held up over the line they probed again from the resultant five yard scrum and fly half Joe Holbrough darted over then converted himself.
