Pocklington 24 - 0 Goole
On a hot and sunny
afternoon a mix of young and experienced Pocklington Panthers took on a big experienced
Goole team.
The4 Panthers had all the early pressure, being tackled into touch
in goal on the right and having a try on the left disallowed for a double movement.
They
then missed a penalty but more good play finally brought the only score of the
first half when fullback Steve Shepherd ran an excellent angle to cross.
Pocklington
came out for the second half with the same determination and fighting spirit they
finished the first half. Their good rucking and recycling stretched Goole to breaking
point before experienced centre Rich Williman charged through for a converted
try.
Goole pressed briefly but the Panthers held firm and countered for Dave
Craven to sprint over for their third touchdown. And they finished with a bang
as No.8 Kenny Strangeway ran back the restart to romp over for a solo converted
score.
